Director of Golf Operations, MSU Golf Course
Jeff received a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing and professional golf management in 1999, and a master of business administration degree in 2005, both from Mississippi State University. Prior to joining the MSU PGA Golf Management staff, Jeff worked at Richland Country Club in Nashville, TN, and Marietta Country Club in Kennesaw, GA.
Jeff serves as the President of the Gulf States PGA Section. He is a member of the PGA PGM Adjunct Faculty for the PGA of America, and is a Past President of the Professional Golf Management Education Association. Jeff has served on the Gulf States PGA Board of Directors since 2008 and has served two terms on the PGA of America Membership Committee. He is a 6-time representative of the Mississippi PGA team in the Mississippi Cup Matches and has been a member of the PGA President's Council on Growing the Game of Golf since 2004. In 2013, Jeff was recognized as the Gulf States PGA Professional of the Year, the Section's highest honor. He is also a 4-time recipient of the Gulf States PGA Horton Smith Award for outstanding and continuing contributions to Golf Professional education. Additionally, Jeff has been a finalist for the PGA of American Horton Smith Award, recognizing the Association's most outstanding golf professional for their contribution to PGA education.
Daniel Soehren, PGA
Program Assistant, PGA Golf Management
Daniel received a bachelor of business administration in PGA Golf Management in 2011 from Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC, and is currently working towards his master of business administration degree from Mississippi State University. Prior to joining the MSU PGA Golf Management staff, Daniel most recently worked for Dick’s Sporting Goods in Tinley Park, IL, where he oversaw the golf retail department.
While enrolled at Campbell, Daniel completed internships at Ford’s Colony Country Club in Williamsburg, VA; The Pronghorn Club in Bend, OR; and Keith Hills Golf Club at Campbell University. He also competed in the 2011 Carolinas Cup (competition among Carolinas Section PGA Golf Management programs) and 2011 PGA Jones Cup, attended the PGA Leadership Conference and served as their tournament director. Daniel is an active competitor in Gulf States Section PGA events, as he qualified for the 50th PGA Professional Championship in Sunriver, OR, and also has been a representative of the Mississippi Team for the 2016 Mackel Cup Matches, and of the PGA team in the 2016 Mississippi Cup Matches.
Associate Director, Career Center
Angie received a bachelor of science in elementary education in 1992, and master of science in conselor education in 2001, both from Mississippi State University. Prior to joining the staff at the Career Center, Angie worked with the Mississippi State University Extension Service as a 4-H Yourth Agent then moving to 4-H Leadership Specialist for the state of Mississippi.
Angie serves on the board of the Cooperative Education and Experiential Education division of the American Society of Engineering Education. She is also a member of the Cooperative Education and Internship Association, Inc. and the Mississippi Association of Colleges and Employers. Involvement in these professional organizations allows her to stay in touch with industry, as well as assist with developing employer relations. Working with the PGA Golf Management program since 2003, she facilitates the communication and connection of the employers with the students in the program. Angie's key responsibility is to work one-on-one with students and employers to locate internship placements that will provide quality educational experiences for the student while making sure the employer has a student that is an asset to their facility.
Mike Hammond, PGA
Head Professional, MSU Golf Course
Mike received a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK in 1982. He became a member of the PGA of America in 1985, ranking in the top 5% for PGA Business Schools I & II. Prior to accepting the position of Head Professional at the MSU Golf Course in 2015, Mike served in numerous positions within the golf industry, including Teaching Professional at Lake Kiowa Golf Club in Lake Kiowa, TX and General Manager/PGA Ambassador of WinStar Golf Club in Thackerville, OK most recently.
Mike is a PGA Award-winning Professional, having won Golf Professional of the Year and Merchandiser of the Year Awards from the South Central Section PGA. Each facility that Mike has worked for has seen extensive growth in its merchandising operations and customer serivce levels. He also earned the distinguished honor of being named the South Central Section PGA President from 2006-2008. Prior to achieving success in his professional career, Mike enjoyed success in his professional playing career, winning the 1987 Saskatchewan Open and earning his PGA Tour Card for the 1988 season. He also competed on the Australian, Asian, and Canadian Tours. Mike is dedicated to creating a learning environment by praciticing sound business decisions and constantly pursuing growth in himself and his staff.
